goings on

Gosh I've been such an awful blogger lately. Here are weekend snaps from the past two weekends.
We had a low key fourth watching and playing with fireworks.
We got kiddy pools for the pups. They had a ball.
First tomatoes from the garden. Homemade muffins.
Sallie graduated from her class and is one step closer to becoming a therapy dog!

weekend snaps. 6/15/10

Linking with 6 in the city.

This weekend was one I had been looking forward to for many months! I went to Seattle for a pet photography workshop taught by Jamie of Cowbelly Pet Photography. And it was even better than I expected!

Got to explore Pike Place Market.
Original Starbucks.
Space needle and museum designed by Gaudi.
We stayed at Hotel Max and held the workshop there too. It was very artsy and original. Loved it.
The best part of the weekend by far was the last day when we got to shoot seven pugs. I wanted to take them all home.

And we got to meet Jamie's adorable dog Fergie.

Of course, I was glad to get back to my own babies, who had to take turns sniffing every square inch of my suitcase.

For many more pug pictures, jump over to the Whisker Snaps blog.

feeling fishy

I've been eyeing fisheye lenses for months, but just couldn't justify dropping hundreds for such a stylized, artsy look. I had also seen the fisheye converters that you just attach to your lens to convert it into a fisheye,  but I was skeptical. I really wanted a fisheye to take to the beach, so I took a gamble on the converter. And I absolutely love it! Don't know how an actual fisheye lens could be much better. I got this one, and for less than $50, it was well worth it! I had so much fun playing.

(I spy some bad behavior.)

you capture - depth of field

I had no trouble with this week's you capture because shallow depth of field is the look I go for most of the time anyway.

My neighbor's hydrangeas of which I am very jealous.

And....then there's my yard. Now that the azaleas are gone, this is about all it has to offer.
Next year, my friends...next year.

And the little porker's feet as she was barking at me because she hates the camera.

Announcing...

Say hello to Whisker Snaps Photo, my new little business venture. Check it out here. If you know of anyone with furballs in the Memphis area, send them my way!

brave little butterfly

This little dude was brave enough to hang out with the dogs at the park, dogding a whole lot of tails and paws. I was glad I had my telephoto with me so I could get a close shot. It's no Pioneer Woman dragonfly shot, but still a fun one.

stir crazed

My About Me over to the right is a bit of a false advertisement. It says I document my travels, but so far I have not. And that's because my travels came to a grinding halt when I took a desk job back in the fall.

I did the math, and on Sunday, it will have been six months since I have left Memphis. That's got to be a lifetime record.

I'm a roamer. And I was lucky enough in high school and college to get to see much of the world. Below is just a sampling of those excursions.

This sedentary, working girl lifestyle is not cutting it. So in three weeks I'll be leaving behind the 9 to 5 (well, 7:30 to 4:30) for good! I'm changing lanes to make a go at something new. More details on that venture to come.

So you better believe this summer will be a much needed reprieve. I'll be criss crossing the country non-stop. Can't wait!

By the way, all but four of these photos were taken with a point and shoot. See if you can guess which ones. The P&S is a Cannon PowerShot SD500 that I've had for 5 years, and it's still kicking!

three for your thursday

It's You Capture day! The theme is spring. This post is on the disjointed side, but it's springy enough I think.

1. I know the interwebs are probably way sick of Honey this week. But she is the best model of the four, and I keep finding another shot I like more than the last from the weekend. And I can't keep all that cuteness to myself.

So much fun to shoot them in the pretty spring weather. Can you believe that big girl was this little girl a year and a half ago? I can't.

2. These are my new favorite shoes. They're just 16 smacks from Old Navy, and I think I'm going to have to get some more. But I can't decide which color. I was thinking that rusty red that's already sold out online. Might have to hunt around this weekend.

3. I'm a little hung up on shooting the sun straight on and out of focus. Feels like summer. Just have to be sure not to expose on the sun. Learned the hard way that creates nothing but a dark mess.

I love Thursdays. Good tv night (Parks and Rec, Office, 30 Rock, Grey's, Private Practice. whew.). And on Thursdays you can see the light at the end of the tunnel that is the weekend! Have a happy one!

weekend snaps. 4/26/10

Linking up with Six in the City

The weekend started off with nasty weather...

Which led to several things...

The skies finally cleared on Sunday.

This was a complete accident, but a happy one:
