vintage photo in a snap

I Heart Faces posted a great tutorial on giving your photos a vintage twist today.

I have always accomplished this look using actions or hue/saturation adjustments. The tutorial gets the effect from using channel mixer, color balance and solid color adjustment layers.

So I decided to try it out on miss Sallie. And I love the result!

Looks very vintage, right? Try it out!

her house

My mom and I went back down to my grandmother's house this weekend to move some furniture. This will be a long process. You never realize how much stuff is in one house until you start to move it.

So many memories. Easter egg hunts in this backyard.

Playing basketball in the driveway. And then avoiding it when wasps invaded.

Grabbing caffeine free diet cokes and Snickers ice cream bars out of this oh-so-old fridge.

This is the house where my mom grew up. There's no one to live there now, but we can't imagine selling it.

So much character. I love the grill.

Lots of bright red brick.

Her tulips are still blooming. We had them on the table for Easter lunch.

"nooooooo"

Maddi was upset here about being forced to brave the inch of snow on the ground so I could take her picture.

Her expression here is pretty much what my face looks like about once a day while reading blogs.

Every time I come across a "your awesome" or a "its a beautiful day" or a "my project's turned out great."

I can't take it. I know many bloggers are pounding away to get their posts written while kiddos and pups run around their feet, but please. Don't abuse the apostrophe.

You can practice here. I'll be very proud.

ok climbing off my soapbox now.

terrorizing the park

I'm linking this to You Capture this week. The theme is comfort, which seems a far cry from watching your dogs misbehave. But, really, anything involving them is comforting. It's a stretch, but there ya go.

Observe.

Lovely day at the park, right?

Wait a minute. Let's zoom in.

That would be Lilly. Frantically digging. Terrorizing the park's permanent residents.

It's that terrier blood. Hank says we could get kicked out of the park if we are harming the wildlife, but she hasn't actually ever caught anything, so I guess we're innocent enough.

And look at that. She's corrupted Honey and Maddi, who never were diggers before miss lil came along.

And Sallie too? This is bad.

And once they start, they are in the zone, tuning out the outside world. And us screaming at them to stop.

Then she runs over all innocently with that little dirt-covered nose.

I'm onto you, missy.

the best part of spring in Memphis

There is this one little street in Memphis that is lined with Cherry trees.

And when they bloom...wow.

The blooms don't last more than a couple weeks.

During those weeks, though, people are always there to catch a glimpse.

There are some gorgeous tulips on the street too.

You'll never guess the name of the street.

I was channeling Max Wanger in this crop.

weekend snaps. 4/5/10

Linking up with Six in the City.

Started the weekend off right by taking off work Friday. I spent the morning giving my friend's dog Beau a photoshoot. Isn't he the cutest Boxer you've ever seen?

And the afternoon watching this. Very good. I highly recommend it.

Honey highly recommends this activity.

The tulips finally came to life.

These are the ones we took to church to lay on the cross. Lilly approved.

Hope your easter was great!

This week's You Capture theme is feet! One of my favorite subjects, especially if they're fur covered. Here are some of my favorites.
